About KBC Zagreb

University Hospital Centre Zagreb is the largest hospital in Croatia, providing a wide range of medical services. It provides healthcare services to a large number of patients every day, from diagnostics and treatment to complex medical procedures. Due to its size, broad scope of work, and many employees, departments, suppliers, and partners, it faces various professional and organizational challenges while continuously working to ensure high-quality, safe, and accessible healthcare.

Expertise & experience

The hospital's main area of expertise is providing comprehensive healthcare services, including diagnostics, treatment, surgery, emergency care, specialized clinical services, research, education, and patient care. In addition to medical expertise, its daily operations rely on many supporting functions such as logistics, administration, procurement, maintenance, IT, security, and cooperation with suppliers and partners.

Digital transformation has been an ongoing part of its development for many years, through the use of hospital information systems, digital tools, and continuous process improvements. Cybersecurity and resilience are becoming increasingly important due to the critical nature of healthcare services, the sensitivity of patient data, the need to ensure continuity of operations, and the regulatory requirements related to ZKS and the NIS2 Directive.

Role in ShieldHealthAdria

KBC Zagreb participates as a pilot hospital in ShieldHealthAdria, contributing to cybersecurity assessments, pilot deployments, validation activities, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening the cyber resilience of healthcare organisations.

It participates in all work packages of the project, contributing to cybersecurity assessments, pilot deployments, validation activities, training and awareness programmes, and dissemination activities. KBC Zagreb also leads Task 5.3 “Launch hospital-wide awareness campaigns” within WP5.
