About KBC Osijek

KBC Osijek is a major clinical hospital centre in eastern Croatia, providing specialised tertiary-level healthcare services through a broad network of clinics, clinical institutes, departments and support services. With a long institutional history and an important role in regional healthcare delivery, KBC Osijek represents a complex public hospital environment where cybersecurity, continuity of care and protection of patient data are essential. Its participation in ShieldHealthAdria ensures that project solutions are tested and validated in real clinical conditions and aligned with healthcare-sector needs.

Expertise & experience

KBC Osijek's main areas of expertise include specialised hospital and clinical healthcare, emergency and acute care, diagnostics, surgery, internal medicine, paediatrics, neurology, psychiatry, oncology, laboratory and radiology services, transfusion medicine, hospital pharmacy and related support services. In the context of ShieldHealthAdria, it also contributes practical knowledge of hospital workflows, clinical systems, patient-data environments, healthcare operations and the organisational requirements needed to implement cybersecurity and resilience measures in a real hospital setting.

Its experience is especially relevant for assessing cybersecurity readiness in real clinical conditions, mapping operational and regulatory needs, supporting implementation of new security controls and validating solutions without disrupting patient care. Through ShieldHealthAdria, KBC Osijek will further strengthen its capabilities in healthcare cybersecurity, digital resilience, secure infrastructure, incident preparedness, staff awareness and compliance with NIS2, GDPR and national requirements.

Key contribution

KBC Osijek's key contribution is the provision of a complex, real-life public hospital environment in Croatia for assessing, deploying and validating cybersecurity and resilience measures. The organisation contributes operational healthcare knowledge, access to relevant hospital processes and stakeholders, practical feedback on integration with existing systems, participation in training and awareness activities, and validation of project outcomes from the perspective of patient safety, continuity of care and secure digital healthcare operations.

It provides a real pilot setting for testing cybersecurity measures such as network protection, segmentation, monitoring, privileged-access controls, early breach detection, governance dashboards and incident-preparedness procedures, and contributes staff participation, organisational insight, local regulatory understanding and practical validation of technologies in a demanding healthcare environment.
